One of the earliest planned communities in Texas, The Heights was established in 1891 and was named for its elevation of 23 feet above downtown Houston. The area is filled with quaint bungalows and historical Victorian mansions. many of which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Only 4 miles from downtown, the canopied streets and colorful 100+ year-old homes take you back to a small town feel. This progressive and urban-chic area is home to many cultural and area events surrounding art, fine cuisine, and metropolitan lifestyle. The artful blend of architecture, people, business, and art create a colorful collage in a historic neighborhood with easy access to all that Houston has to offer.
Located just north of I-10 and bordered on the east by I-45, The Heights continues to grow and evolve. New construction residences stand alongside every era of housing in the city, and the northern borders of the area keep extending, blending seamlessly into Houston's near northside. The area is also home to some of the city's best restaurants, bars, and night life venues, further attracting residents to the area.
